The NSW Government through the NSW Department of Primary Industry have agreed partnership programs with NSW Wine, alongside three viticulture development officers to support the development and growth of the NSW wine industry.
Research and Development
Every year three research and development programs are deployed across NSW for the wine industry targeting set criteria, objectives and outcomes.
The Skills Development Program is a five year $1.25m NSW government agreement with an annual program developed by both NSW Wine and NSW DPI and delivered by viticulture development officers. The key focus is industry skills development through applied science and research with practical outcomes to increased grape and wine quality. It is delivered via workshops, information tours and sessions, field days and publications.
The Greater NSW and Riverina Regional Program is a five year $875,000 program funded from industry grape and wine levies via Wine Australia. Both programs are developed annually in partnership with NSW DPI and delivered by NSW DPI viticulture development officers. The focus of these two programs is to improve regional competitiveness and sustainability through extending research into adoption by industry. It is delivered via trials, workshops, in field demonstrations and extensions materials.
