2024 NSW Wine Awards Stewarding Positions
Applications for 2024 stewarding positions are now open.
Each year at the NSW Wine Awards, positions are available for wine stewards wishing to gain experience in the NSW Wine Industry and the Australian show judging system including the digital Showrunner judging system.
There are usually 4 stewarding days available each year and we ask that each steward be able to fulfil a minimum of one whole days work (no half days).
There are 8 stewards required each day of the show to efficiently complete the duties required. Stewards are required to be on site at 8am and for the whole days judging until completed.
The judging will take place at the ICC Sydney, from Tuesday 1st October through to Friday 4th October
Light meals/tea/coffee etc are provided for all stewards during each day and invitations to exclusive judges dinners may also be available to stewards.
As well as the traditional payment of wine (one case per day of stewarding) we also aim to organising some wine judging training for stewards to take place during the judging week, so that this activity is educational for participants, and a useful thing to put on any CV.

Categories and Judging
Categories and Judging
Entries are judged by three panels, with each panel being chaired by a leading figure of Australian wine. In 2024 our panels will be led by our new Chair of Show Mr Adam Walls.
The awards are divided into categories: Best Chardonnay, Semillon, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris / Grigio, Other white single varietals, White Blends, light red (Rose), Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Other single red varietals, and Red blends as well as the Dry Red and Dry White trophies, Sparkling and Sweet wines.
There is also an award for the Best Organic Wine in the show and the Chair of Judges Award. This award is given to a wine from a particular wine region that really impressed our Chair of Judges. Each year a different region is selected to reflect what is topical in the NSW wine industry.
Out of all the award winning wines, one is selected for the ultimate Trophy - the ‘NSW Governor’s Best in Show’ - presented by the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC
QC.
