NSW Wine Awards
About the NSW Wine Awards
The New South Wales Wine Awards were created in 1996 to build awareness of the quality of wines produced in NSW. Since inception the Awards have become an indicator of the growth and diversity of our State’s industry, and recognised the potential of new regions within New South Wales.
Get ready for the 29th annual NSW Wine Awards - a celebration of excellence that keeps getting better. As we raise our glasses to nearly three decades of showcasing the best of NSW wines, we're more excited than ever to shine a spotlight on the incredible talent across our 16 diverse regions.
This isn't just an awards show - it's a movement to elevate NSW wines to new heights! By entering your wines, you're not only competing for prestigious recognition but also championing our state's world-class wine industry, and show the world what NSW winemakers can do.
From crisp Chardonnays to bold Shiraz, we're on a quest to crown the cream of the crop in every category. And this year, the stakes are higher than ever - the NSW Wine of the Year will receive the ultimate honour the 'Best Wine in NSW' trophy, presented by our patron Her Excellency The Governor of NSW Margaret Beazley AC QC.
Leading the charge in 2024 is our esteemed new Chair of Show, Mr. Adam Walls, backed by a dream team of Australia's top wine judges.
Categories and Judging
Categories and Judging
Entries are judged by three panels, with each panel being chaired by a leading figure of Australian wine. In 2024 our panels will be led by our new Chair of Show Mr Adam Walls.
The awards are divided into categories: Best Chardonnay, Semillon, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris / Grigio, Other white single varietals, White Blends, light red (Rose), Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Other single red varietals, and Red blends as well as the Dry Red and Dry White trophies, Sparkling and Sweet wines.
There is also an award for the Best Organic Wine in the show and the Chair of Judges Award. This award is given to a wine from a particular wine region that really impressed our Chair of Judges. Each year a different region is selected to reflect what is topical in the NSW wine industry.
Out of all the award winning wines, one is selected for the ultimate Trophy - the ‘NSW Governor’s Best in Show’ - presented by the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC
QC.
